NYSSA RALLIES AGAINST STATE "RAID" ON SNOWMOBILE TRAIL FUND
February 12, 2010, Albany, NY - Calling Governor David A. Paterson's state budget proposal, "a betrayal of the trust between his administration and our 150,000 members," the New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) vowed to fight a multi-year, multi-million dollar state raid of the snowmobile trail development and maintenance fund. "The money in the trail fund is critical to support trail maintenance activities," said Michael Fischer, President of NYSSA. "It is money paid exclusively by snowmobilers for costs directly associated with the state and snowmobile club responsibilities for the development and maintenance of the statewide trail system. The state's attempt to take this money for other purposes could threaten the safety of the trail system and certainly the long-term viability of the trail fund," Fischer charged. This unprecedented sweep is being proposed less than two years after a previous attempt to take $1 million during the 2008-2009 budget process was avoided with the understanding by NYSSA and its supporters that similar raids would not be attempted in the future. Governor Paterson stated in a press release at the time that the state would "ensure that money from these registration fees will be spent in a way that specifically benefits snowmobilers... solely on trail maintenance and related program activities."

UPDATED-1/6/2009;
I have added the link to the forum, we are still in the early stages so bear with us. Unfortunately I can not export your current log-in information to the new forum. So please when you register for the forum try and use the same username and password as you have in the log-in area of the home page. I will at some time in the very near future integrate both log-in areas so you will only need to remember one username and password and only log-in once to access both areas. I will be constantly making changes to better integrate the forum with the main site.
thanks and please do not be afraid to use the forum.
The site has had an extreme makeover!
The new site has many new and innovative functions. If you notice in the upper right hand corner of the page is a new series of buttons. Those buttons allow you to customize how you view the Sharon Pathfinders website. You can change the color to more suit your style, and the boxes with the A will allow you to adjust the font size that you see. This will better help the site to adjust to your screen's viewing size.
The updated site will also allow us to add and view many more pictures in various locations on the front page and others. I will be adding a forum page in the upcoming days that will allow everyone an active posting area.
that's it for now, enjoy the new features. |
