Please Help Your Local Club and Register your Snowmobile Now.

As of November 6th, DMV reports that there are a total of 27,964 snowmobiles registered so far for the sea-son. As OPRHP sets the reimbursement rates for miles based on registration projections, we need you to register your sled(s) now! Please get the word out to your club(s), friends and neighbors. Without sufficient registrations early, the mileage rate set will be lower than the past few years causing even more financial hardships for the clubs. Addition-ally, registering after the mileage rate is set will leave more money laying around in the Trail Fund, subject to the whims of New York State government, who we all know doesn’t mind using your money as their personal piggy bank

When Do NY’s Snowmobile Trails Open?
A simple question, with a somewhat complicated answer. It depends on where the trails are located, the amount of snow cover, and ultimately, the decision to open the trails rests with the Club volunteers who build and maintain them and the landowners’ wishes. Please contact the local club to be sure. Generally, snowmobile trails are not opened until after NYS big game hunting season has ended in the respective area.
The following information is from the NYS DEC Website

Based on this information, most trails in the northern zone (bright yellow) should be possible to open after December 12 -- if there is adequate snow cover.

Trail Info and updates PDF Print E-mail

We are all eagerly awaiting the first snowmobile ride of the season. However some of you are already on the trails and putting us all in a bad situation. The trails are NOT OPEN UNTIL DEER SEASON is over. This year the trails will not be open until December 21st; and that is providing that there is sufficient snow fall. We all work extremely hard and volunteer countless hours to create the trail system as you know it today. If one of you steps out of line you risk the entire trail systems closure; sometimes temporarily and someday it will be permanent. We implore you; please stay off the trails until they are officially open, remember if you can carry your food and beverages on to the trail system then you can carry your food and beverages off of the trail system.

Dave Beisler Print E-mail

The Sharon Pathfinders would like to give a big round of applause to Dave Beisler and crew. We had a mishap with a groomer last weekend and Dave donated a bulldozer, truck and trailer to recover the groomer. No one was hurt and in the end everything was OK. If you see Dave give him a big thumbs up and a thank you, with out that equipment the groomer may of been lost for quite a while.
